I had had a really awful day and I could feel the weight of the day on me. There was a time that those days used to make me want to lie down under the covers and close my eyes until the feelings passed away. But this time I decided to choose God’s narrative. I might not have understood, but I knew one thing He has me in His palm. It was a hard day but I chose to finish it the way the Lord and I had talked about. I went to bible study, I recorded my audition, and I wrote. As I wrote, this Word came to me – “God can be trusted”. I know some of us have heard this time and time again, and maybe it doesn’t carry as much weight or “umph” as it used to. On this day I asked myself, why do I really believe this? I knew in a sensical way that this was true, I mean the Holy Spirit said so, but I still asked myself – "why do you believe this?" And friends here’s what came to my heart.
1. I am God’s own. I am not my own. 1 Cor 6: 19 – 20 says “19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; …”. This tells me that I am not my own anymore, but I’m He’s. He is now responsible for me, and He takes His responsibility seriously.
2. I am precious to God. Matthew 10: 29 – 31 says “29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[a] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”. God is incredibly detailed about me, He doesn’t want to me see me fall. I am the beloved of the Lord.
3. My life means something. I am not a mistake. Eph 2:10 says “10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”. There was a preparation for my design, and it was quite important to God. I wasn’t just zapped or whooped together in haste, I was carved intentionally, jealously, and lovingly. I was made on purpose for a purpose. I am incredibly important. The one who made me is incredibly committed that the purpose of my life come to pass, He has a vested interest in my success, as there are eternal ramifications. Though there be issues along the way, there is already victory at the tail. Since God is Alpha and Omega, He has the point of view from the end, and the end has been declared victorious. So I can say with all certainty that all things work together for my good (Rom 8: 28).
This is how I know that God can be trusted.
