Maybe satisfaction isn’t so far away, maybe it’s closer than we think.
Maybe provision isn’t so far away, maybe it’s closer than we think.
Maybe rest isn’t so far away, maybe it’s closer than we think.
Maybe fulfillment isn’t so far away, maybe it’s just within reach.
Satisfaction…rest…provision…fulfillment… all common words describing an ache in the heart, or a need. A need sometimes so pressing it feels like it could consume us.
Fulfillment is notorious of the bunch for its constant nagging. It comes up here and there and just when you think you’ve appeased its itch, it crops up again.
In the times of fulfillment’s nagging, some of us might have gone to, perhaps, means we’re not proud of, or maybe means we didn’t quite want to be slaves to. The means have been a short reprieve from fulfillment’s nagging but never quite doing it. As time passed you might notice that you seek these short reprieves even when the need to be satisfied (fulfilled) didn’t quite come nagging. Seeking these short reprieves has become a weird form of incarceration, and how you got here isn’t clear. It’s not quite a physical prison, but still, you find that you keep coming back to this form of prison.
A bandaid for fulfillment gone wrong, and now perhaps one issue has become two. The need for fulfillment and a vice.
If this is you, I’m here to tell you about the solution to both issues. Well, it’s a who and His name is Jesus. Jesus is the son of God and He came that you might have life and have it abundantly. He came that you might have the thirst of your soul, your deepest needs satisfied. Not only that but that you would overflow to your world and community (John 4: 10 - 14). He presents “Living Water”.
Well, what about the vice? Well accepting Jesus into your heart breaks the hold of that vice (Rom 6: 5 - 7). When you accept Jesus in your heart the Holy Spirit comes upon you and gives you power over that vice such that you don’t have to answer to it anymore. You’re a new creature, old things, i.e all things from your old life including the hold of that vice, have “passed” away and all things have become new.
So I urge you to let Jesus in with all the satisfaction and love He brings.
